MEDICAL CITY NAMES EROL AKDAMAR PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Medical City Dallas Hospital announced today that Erol Akdamar will become President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 11, 2010.

Currently the Chief Executive Officer at St. David's South Austin Hospital, Akdamar, 42, has held various senior management roles over the past 15 years including hospitals involved in partnerships between HCA and tax
exempt organizations such as St. David's in Austin, Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, and Tulane University Hospitals in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"Erol's diverse set of roles and experiences will compliment leading the truly dynamic and complex organization that Medical City and Medical City Children's Hospital is," says Jim Scoggin, HCA North Texas Division President.  "I know that he will excel in his new role in collaboration with the Leadership Team, board, and Medical Staff to continue to enhance the culture of excellence, caring, and innovation that defines Medical City and Medical City Children's Hospital."

Carole Young, Board President, says, "Erol possesses the strategic, operational and relational focus needed to achieve great success in continuing initiatives and goals for our organization.  We are pleased with this decision to bring such a dynamic leader to head up Medical City and Medical City Children's Hospital."

Akdamar's collaborative leadership style has produced many successes including top ten percent employee engagement and patient satisfaction as well as physician satisfaction while growing inpatient admissions by 20%.  Most recently, Akdamar led efforts to secure funding in 2009 for a $72 million major campus expansion.

Says Alison Elmquist, M.D. and President of the Medical Staff for Medical City and Medical City Children's Hospital, "We look forward to planning for the future of the organization in partnership with Erol and his distinguished executive team."

Akdamar is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a Master of Healthcare Care Administration from Tulane University School of Public Health in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Akdamar comes from a family heavily invested in healthcare including a brother who is a physician and two sisters who are registered nurses.

Akdamar who will be joined by his wife and family graciously stated, "I have been honored to have worked in collaboration with great mentors and great leaders in my career.  I take great pride in accepting such a prestigious position in an organization that has achieved such unparalleled success as Medical City and Medical City Children's Hospital."
